Nervous times for Stoke

Two days to go to the big kick-off and Stoke still don’t have many new players to show for all their efforts.

Dave Kitson, Thomas Sorensen and Seyi Olofinjana are all the Potters have to show for their summer’s work. It really doesn’t seem enough for Stoke to stave off a worrying start to the new Premier League season for Potters’ fans.

Zigic has now been given the thumbs’ down after the clubs and player couldn’t agree fees and wages. Only this week it was revealed that Stoke had missed on Cuellar before his move from Rangers to Aston Villa.

Yet again, it’s a tale of players and agents not seeing Stoke as a club worth joining. Last year, it was the same story with potential signings seeing other Championship clubs as better prospects (Yes, I know we didn’t need them anyway!). But this time around, it’s been a very similar story with potential signings not prepared to take the risk of a relegation dogfight and perversely, probably condemning the Potters to just that eventuality.

Whilst trying to be more positive, there are still 16 days until the transfer window slams shut at midnight on September 1st with the FA granting clubs an extra day to complete any business as August 31st falls on a Sunday.
