There is still no agreement on a new deal for our Player of the Season – Matthew Etherington.

Matty still has two years left on his current contract, but wants to wrap up a new deal after his good form last season.

Discussions have been on-going since April amid reports that the former Hammers’ player was keen on a new deal to enable him to pay off gambling debts he incurred whilst playing in London. He’s said to now be a regular at Gamblers’ Anonymous in a bid to break the habit, but the bookies are still after their debts and he’s been hoping that the club will strike a deal which will enable him to take a slice of the contract as cash upfront.

Chief Exec, Tony Scholes has said this week that the club have made the player ‘a very good offer’ and that he was optimistic that something would be agreed.
