Ledley seems Celtic bound

Joe Ledley looks like he’s going to sign for Celtic rather than the Potters and so Cardiff are likely to miss out on a bumper pay day.

Ledley did hold talks with Stoke, but the Potters would only put up to £20,000/week on the table, whilst the SPL club have offered £25,000/week to the 23 year old midfielder.

The pay difference comes down to the fact that Celtic would not have to pay any compensation to Cardiff as it’s effectively a transfer to a foreign club, whereas Stoke would probably end up paying up to £3m to Cardiff, even though he is out of contract, since he’s been with the Welsh club since he was a youngster.

Tony Pulis has insisted that Stoke were not going to up their offer, despite reports from Ledley’s camp saying that the Celtic deal was not yet done.

He told the Sentinel: ‘He’s a lovely lad. We showed him what we have got and it is up to him to decide. If he decides to go up to Celtic then I wish him all the best.’
