Robert Huth could be out for the rest of the season, according to Stoke chairman Peter Coates.

Huth, 29, has been out of action since he limped out of Stoke`s 2-0 victory against Sunderland in November.

The German centre half was forced into exploratory surgery on his knee, which forced the former Middlesbrough defender to have his meniscus cartilage trimmed.

Stoke Chairman Peter Coates told The Sentinel:

‘It is my understanding that it is very unlikely he will feature again this season.

‘If that is the case, then all the focus now is getting him ready for next season.’

Huth has missed 20 games for the Potters since November but managed 45 minutes in an under-21 encounter a few weeks ago but has made no progress since, and therefore his season seems to be over.
