It has been revealed that veteran defender Gerry Taggart is due to have knee surgery in the next couple of weeks. The 35 year old has only been able to feature in 3 fixtures this season due to his continual knee complaints.

Johan Boskamp said ‘They are going to clean out his knee either this week or next week. It is a routine operation.’ OUCH.

Taggart is working on the various UEFA coaching badges and it is believed the Boskamp would like the Northern Ireland international player to take on a coaching role with Stoke due to his vast experience.
