Hill: there was no bust-up

Clint Hill has said that rumours of a major bust-up between him and Tony Pulis are an exaggeration.

Stories began to circulate recently that Hill was not happy at playing left back and that this resulted in a major row between the player and his manager that ended in him being dropped for the Barnsley match on Tuesday.

Hill was interviewed on BBC Radio Stoke after Saturday’s 3-2 win against Plymouth when he categorically denied any row, but did admit to a meeting with the manager in which he said that he would prefer to play in the centre back slot, but said that he would happily play in any position he was asked to.

The left back slot has been problematic for Pulis since Andy Griffin decided that he’d rather play in the Premier League this season and with no natural successor has been forced to play Hill out of his normal position.

Whether this can be construed ‘a major bust-up’ or just an everyday discussion on a player’s strengths and weaknesses depends on where your coming from and the point you’re trying to make, but since Hill has tried to pour a lot of oil on some troubled waters, we should accept his comments at face value as the last thing we need at the moment is negative spin from within the team itself.
