With Andy Wilkinson’s contract extension in the bag, Tony Pulis is now keen to tie up Carl Dickinson.

Both lads have impressed the boss this season and are now considered much more than bit players on the bench, so it was good to see the club seize the initiative, for a change, last week and sign the Academy graduate on an extended contract.

The Potters now want to get fellow former Academy player, Dickinson signed on to a similar contract.

Both players enjoyed a fruitful spell on loan last season at Blackpool and these types of loans now seem an important part of Pulis’s plan to improve the younger fringe players’ experience and prepare them for first team football in the Championship.

At present we’ve also got young striker, Adam Rooney on loan at Chesterfield, where he has started six games (with a further six as a sub) and scored four goals.
