Barnsley have enquired about the availability of veteran midfielder Rory Delap.

Delap, who has been out most of the season with a shoulder injury is nearing a return to full fitness and the Tykes believe his experience could help them stay in the Championship.

Barnsley manager David Flitcroft looks to take the former Irish international on-loan until the end of the season.

The deal could be finalised as the 36-year-old, who is known for his long throw, looks to play first team football in the twilight of his career.
