Stoke City manager, Tony Pulis will sit down on Monday with John Eustace to try and thrash out a new contract.

Eustace, who has spent the best part of the last two years suffering from injury, is out of contract but the Potters had made it clear at the start of the Summer break that they’d like him to stay. In a bid to stop players and agents starting an auction for their services, the club decided that it would not make an initial offer to those players that are out of contract but asked them to tell the club how much money they wanted to sign a new deal.

John Eustace, judging from comments made in the media, clearly felt aggrieved that the club had not made him an initial offer and had revealed that other clubs have enquired about his services. With the stand-off threatening the midfielder’s future in the Potteries, the manager has stepped with fulsome praise for the 27 year old and a promise to sit down and discuss the contract impasse on Monday, ahead of the full squad’s return for pre-season training on Thursday.
