The on-off saga of Danny Higginbotham’s departure is now finally confirmed as the club have announced that they have now accepted a further offer from Sunderland.

After Higginbotham’s ‘refusal’ to play on Saturday citing a continuing injury, it was virtually certain that the Potters’ skipper would be leaving the club this week. The club had made Danny two new contract offers over the past few days, including an offer of a four year contract in their desperation to keep him – but all to no avail.

Stoke have now bitten the bullet and accepted the third and final offer from Roy Keane of £2.5m up front with another £500,000 depending on performances. It’s sad to see him go, but it’s now even more important that we make the best of the final week of the transfer window, spend some of the money and GET SOME NEW PLAYERS IN!
