New signing John Carew has openly said that if all goes well he will be happy to sign a permanent contract with the club in the summer.

The on-loan Norwegian`s current contract with Aston Villa runs out in June and he would be available on a free transfer. Carew has become Stoke`s second winter signing following Jermaine Pennant, and he has said that he is looking to stay beyond his loan deal.

“If I’m happy and the club is happy, if I enjoy it and it goes well enough, then we can decide that in the summer. The important thing now is to make the most of this opportunity. I’m looking forward to the challenge and I am happy to be here”.

“Although I had other offers, I saw Stoke as the best team and the strongest team, so this is a great chance for me to join a side fighting in the top half of the table”.

Carew is reportedly Stoke`s highest paid player in the clubs history, so he better start scoring if he wants to endear himself to the Brit faithful. However, his high profile signature will certainly be met by excitement and expectation. The team to play Fulham tomorrow will be very interesting as Carew could be thrust straight in to the first team for his debut.
