Any more for any more at Stoke?

With last orders about to be called on the January transfer window, it seems as the Potters will not be bringing any new last minute players into the Brit – or will they?

Tony Pulis was his usual vague self when asked to comment on the likelihood of a deadline day deal. He brushed off questions with a random comment about having ‘enquired about four or five players’, but dampened expectation by adding ‘they might have been all for the same position’.

Either he is playing his cards very close to his chest at this eleventh hour or none of the targets has chosen to take the bait. Even so, this January has been an unusually busy one for the Potters and they’ll probably end up one of the Championship’s top spenders with around £4m of transfer deals completed.

IN
Already in the can:

Salif Diao (free agent)
Danny Pugh – Preston North End (£500k)
Andy Griffin – Derby (£300k)
Leon Cort – Crystal Palace (£1.2m)
Ryan Shawcross – Manchester United (£1m rising to £2m)

Just the rumour mill for now:
Glenn Whelan – Sheffield Wed. Rumours still abound, but he’s still at Hillsborough for now.
Stelios Giannakopoulos – Bolton (£750k?) Has started a couple of games for Bolton recently, so may look to sit tight at the Reebok.
Marlon Harewood – Aston Villa. Martin O’Neill went on record to say that he wanted him to stay at Villa Park
Neil Lennon – Notts Forest. The former Celtic midfielder is said to have Ipswich after him as well.
Robert Earnshaw – Derby. Still at Pride Park.
Junior Agogo – Nottingham Forest. Currently away playing in the African Cup of Nations
Joel Lindpere – Tromso. The Norwegian press are linking us with this Estonian international midfielder
Theo Walcott – Arsenal. Arsene Wenger told the media that he would not loaned to anyone.

OUT

Peter Sweeney – Leeds United (‘nominal fee’)
Clint Hill – Crystal Palace. (undisclosed fee)
