Abdoulaye Faye celebrated Stoke’s victory over Blackburn Rovers today with a personal lap of the pitch to after the game to celebrate with the fans.

The former Newcastle and Bolton defender joined the Potters at the start of the season and revealed after the game that he loves the fans and loves playing for Stoke.

He told Stoke City World that this was ‘the best time of my career’ and that plenty of people had queried his decision to join the Potters and told him ‘Stoke will go down’, but he told the doubters that he likes a challenge and now ‘he’s very happy’.

The fans took quickly to the Senegalese player and his work rate has helped earn the Potters many points this season. With club captain, Andy Griffin, struggling to even earn a place on the bench in recent weeks, Ab Faye has rightfully been given the honour of skippering the Potters on the pitch in Griffin’s absence.

He’s got to be a strong candidate for ‘player of the season’ in my humble opinion.
