Arsene Wenger tried to sign Stoke keeper, Thomas Sorensen on the final day of the transfer window – according to the Daily Telegraph.

Arsenal’s failed bid came on the back of his dissatisfaction at their 3-1 defeat last Sunday at the hands of Man United at The Emirates and indicates that he’s lost confidence in Manuel Almunia.

There was no way that the deal had any chance of going through as Tony Pulis wasn’t even able to confirm the signing of our new £3.25m reserve keeper, Asmir Begovic, until just before the 5pm deadline last Monday. But it shows how much the Danish international is admired even by the top clubs and it’s good to know that the Potters will have the services of three top keepers all challenging for the starting slot for the remainder of the season.

Almunia didn’t have the best of days again today when the Gunners went down 2-0 at near neighbours, Chelsea and they’ll be back at the Brit on the 27th February as we try and make it three home victories in a row against Wenger’s men.
