Stoke City made two last minute signings as the loan window slammed shut for the last time this season.

Newcastle United striker, Shola Ameobi and Derby’s Stephen Pearson both joined on transfer deadline day as the Potters looked to strengthen attack and midfield that’s looking suddenly depleted with Ricardo Fuller suspended for the visit to Sheffield Wednesday and Mamady Sidibe and Salif Diao early injury doubts ahead of the top versus bottom clash.

Ameobi will be an exciting prospect for Potters fans. He’s been at St. James’s Park since joining as an Academy player 13 years ago, but since being injured towards the end of last season he has found it difficult to break back into the Magpies first team but is definitely the sort of impact player that Tony Pulis has been looking for up-front and should be an great signing in the run in to the end of the season.

Pearson comes with good experience of a promotion push which included scoring the winning goal that got them promoted via the play-offs last season and although he has 27 Premier League appearances this season is obviously considered surplus to requirements at Pride Park as they face a quick return to the Championship.
