Stoke City went in search of all three points against Wigan Athletic at the Bet365 Stadium earlier tonight but new loanee Cuco Martina had to settle for a place on the bench following his arrival last Friday.
Manager Gary Rowett continued to search for his first competitive win since coming to the club over the summer and he continues to wait with pressure seriously beginning to build as an utterly shambolic performance failed to see Stoke even register a shot on target in the 90 minutes.
Okay we didn’t help ourselves as Everton loanee Ashley Williams saw red for two yellows, but we only had to see the last 12 minutes of the game out in terms of regulation time when it came to ten men, so that cannot be used as an excuse as a failure to test their stopper even once.
Especially as by the end of the game we still edged the lion’s share of the ball in terms of possession, we just did extremely little with it.
Well beaten and can have few complaints – the early season optimism should now be accepted for what it was our home wait for a win stretches to nine matches.
