Reports suggest that Wigan Athletic have been receiving interest from multipul clubs about Charles N`Zogbia, and one of those clubs is Stoke City.

The fast French winger has also attracted the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United, Sunderland, and even Liverpool.

N`Zogbia, who has played consistently well all season despite the club`s position at the foot of the table, is keen to leave the DW Stadium at the end of the season.

Having previously played for Newcastle, bookies have N`zogbia down to move back to the Toon. However bitter local rivals Sunderland also lead the chase for the 24-year-old. But Tony Pulis is reported to be keen about signing the player in support of Mathew Etherington on the left wing.

Charles N`Zogbia started his professional career at Newcastle United, making a total of 118 appearances and scoring 9 goals. He was one of the last signings made by the late and great Sir Bobby Robson.

When the legendary manager spoke of N`Zogbia, he said: “N’Zogbia could go to the very top with the right coaching and motivation, and I hope it is with Newcastle. I signed him as a teenager and he was one of the most naturally gifted players of that age I’d ever seen.”

In the 08/09 season, following a 2-1 away loss to Manchester City in January, Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear angered N’Zogbia by accidentally mispronouncing his name as ‘insomnia’ in an post-match interview. N’Zogbia then issued a statement in which he announced that he would not play for the club while Kinnear was manager. This prompted his transfer to Wigan for a reported fee of £6million at the end of transfer window that same month.

Since joining the Latics, N`Zogbia has made 72 appearances scoring 10 goals, but now is becoming unsettled by Wigan`s league position. Will Stoke City be his next destination?

In my opinion Charles seems a bright player who can interject some pace and creativity to set up the strikers. He`s at a ripe age for a footballer however still has some learning to do, but it would be great for the team to add to the youthful investments. So long as we don`t call him lazy I think he would enjoy playing for Stoke.

  • He is an excellent player and at anything below the 9m he nearly went to Sunderland for would be a great business for you or anyone else.

  • Dont believe what you read in the press…if Zog goes anywhere this summer it’ll be to Liverpool, they wanted him in Jan but we were reluctant to sell then and believe it or not he wanted to stay to help us avoid relegation, he’s worth well over £9m
