The Stoke City first team squad returned from a two month break today with a gruelling workout.

The squad, including Jon Parkin after his permanent signing last month, was forced to train inside the Academy facilities after the bad weather prevented them from training at the Michelin training ground at Hanford.

Rory Delap took part after overcoming a broken leg in his home debut in the first half of last season and was joined by Clint Hill and Liam Lawrence who both missed the end of last term due to injuries. Although Marlon Broomes and Anthony Pulis jnr were still not fully fit enough to participate in today’s first workout of the new season.

In other news, it has emerged that Stoke have been holding talks with striker, Malcolm Christie who was released by Middlesborough at the end of last season. The 27 year old was plagued by injuries during his time in the North East and is rumoured to be also talking to Notts Forest and Ipswich.
