Stoke City’s Tyrese Campbell has been named February’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month.

The 18 year old was nominated for the award after finding the net five times in two matches for Stoke’s Under 23 side across the month (Middlesbrough and Fulham). He also received a senior call up under Paul Lambert and made his Premier League debut against Leicester City.

He also finished the month as top scorer at PL2 level with 12 goals for the season.

Having been on the shortlist for January’s award, he was rightly pleased to pick up the gong this time around.

Campbell takes the PL2 Player of the Month award ahead of West Ham’s Marcus Browne, Manchester United’s Tahith Chong, Blackburn’s Lewis Hardcastle, Chelsea’s Reece James and Derby’s Lewis Walker.

Speaking to he explained.

‘It’s an honour to finally get the award. This month, I’ve just carried on doing what I do – scoring goals, and I’ve made my debut and I’ve finally got it so, I’m buzzing. It’s a great experience playing for the first team but I just try to not pay too much attention to it, and just carry on because it’s just the first step of what I want to achieve.’
