It seems that Stoke City will not take up the option to sign Stephen Kelly on a permanent basis when his loan ends.

Kelly was signed in January until the end of the season but the defender only made his second start with the Potters in Saturday’s defeat at Fulham. With a strong and settled back four, he’s found it hard to break in to the starting eleven and it’s taken injuries to Andy Wilkinson and Danny Higginbotham before he was able to land a starting position.

He’s out of contract with Birmingham City in the summer and appears prepared to leave at St. Andrews on a Bosman if the Potters aren’t interested in him.
