Welshman Joe Allen has said he’s confident that Stoke City will bounce back from our defeat to Chelsea at the weekend.

Hosting the side at the Bet365 Stadium for the game, our unbeaten start to 2017/18 on home soil came to an end with a heavy four nil defeat and it was our third straight loss in the last seven days.

Whilst that makes for grim reading which Allen acknowledge, he was confident that we would bounce back quickly as he felt the scoreline at the weekend wasn’t a real reflection on the game.

Speaking to the Official Website to reflect on the game, Allen explained.

‘We`re disappointed obviously, we shot ourselves in the foot against a Chelsea side that are clinical and will punish you. At the end I think we got a little bit ragged and 4-0 looks worse than perhaps the game went, but that`s what can happen in the Premier League and we were soundly beaten. Nobody ever likes losing at home against anyone so emphatically but from the three teams that we`ve played at home, to have got four points from those games is no disgrace at all.’

Allen went on to say that despite recent disappointments, it’s all about where Stoke finish come the end of the campaign and there are plenty of games left on that score.

‘It`s all about where we are after 38 games, not after six, so we will continue to plug away and I`m sure we will pick up some points over the next few weeks and climb back up the table. I`m sure we will bounce back with a much better result this weekend, so we will prepare right, set our game plan and do all our work this week to ensure we do just that.’
