After Friday’s trials and tribulations which saw Lee Hendrie waiting at the Brit in a Stoke training kit to sign on the dotted line but instead getting back into his Ferrari and going back to Villa Park, Tony Pulis is still hopeful of landing his target before the close of the transfer window on Wednesday.

Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United have both been linked with Aston Villa’s longest serving player, but it remains to be seen if this latest twist is just a hiccup or an offer is forthcoming.

Pulis says that he has spoken to Hendrie over the weekend and still thinks the Potters can do the deal this week, so we must assume that Hendrie and Pulis both believe that there are no other bids actually on the table.

In other news, Peter Sweeney looks set to join League 1 side, Yeovil Town on loan for the remainder of the season. Sweeney’s last appearance for the Potters was as a substitute against Wolves, but after five minutes was substituted himself causing him to storm off the pitch and straight back to the dressing room.

Finally, in what sounds more like rumour than news, Michael Duberry has been linked to a £500,000 move to Reading as cover for the injured Ibrahima Sonko and we’ve been linked with a move for Trinidad and Tobago international, Cornell Glen. The striker is unattached at the moment, but has been playing in the US, latterly for Beck’s new team LA Galaxy.
