Early reports that the Icelanders had rejected the latest takeover offer from Peter Coates appear to have been an Icelandic negotiating ploy.

The Sentinel is now reporting that talks between Stoke Chairman, Gunnar Gislason and fellow director, Peter Coates have been continuing in earnest this week and a final decision is expected by the end of the week.

We said a couple of weeks ago that the slow down in the Icelandic economy could encourage the Icelanders majority shareholders to do a deal and it has been said that they initiated the current round of talks in an attempt to finally get out of Stoke City.

This would all tie in with Johan Boskamp?s statement that he has been told to expect a decision on his contract by the end of the week as well.

But as we keep saying, ‘It’s not all over until the fat lady sings!’
