Stoke have tonight sealed the signing of Blackburn midfielder Steven N`Zonzi for an initial fee of £3.5 million, completing an impressive double swoop of central midfielders on deadline day.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Stoke, and joins Scotland international Charlie Adam in moving to the Britannia stadium.

The classy Frenchman has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham, and represents a big coup for a Stoke side desperate for quality in the middle of the park.

Today`s deadline day signings are sure to see a new central midfield partnership which will excite Stoke fans, N`Zonzi is already a proven performer in the top flight and fans will be hoping Charlie Adam can recapture the sensational form he produced at Blackpool.

Stoke have also been in the market for a striker, but were left frustrated in their attempts to bring in a forward before tonight`s deadline passed – however, a deal for England legend Michael Owen is still on the cards as the Potters look to bolster their striking options for the season ahead.
