Stoke City have announced tonight that they have signed defender, Danny Higginbotham from Southampton for an undisclosed fee but we believe it to be in the region of £225,000.

Higginbotham has signed a three year deal after rejecting a new contract from Southampton.

The former Saints’ captain made over 100 appearances for the club and Tony Pulis believes he could slot in to the left back slot that proved troublesome last season and should start for the Potters at Saturday’s away game at Southend.

  • a good signing, however where are the goals coming from? on the plus side we have one of the best defences in the league, but despratly need a striker and at least one midfield player

  • Looks like Robbo from Swansea is going to be £500k+ and he’s only a midfielder (but can score goals). It’ll be a test for Coates & Pulis to see if they think he’s worth it and that he can make the step up to the Championship.

  • o look poolis has made a signing at last i feel so sorry for u stoke best of luck next season u might need it

  • So you’ve signed a scummer. Can’t make out Pulis, he was bolloxs for us & it was a sad day when they announced him manager of Portsmouth. At least you have Vincent Pericard, he’ll score you some. he did well for us during our championship winning season. Just unlucky with injuries.
