Stoke have had a £1.5m bid for Crystal Palace midfielder, Tom Soares accepted.

The 22 year old, England U21 international is reported by Sky Sports to be heading up to Stoke in a bid to sign before the transfer deadline at midnight. Soares has made over 150 appearances for the Eagles since coming up through their youth ranks in 2004.

Meanwhile, Danny Higginbotham has arrived back at the Brit to discuss personal terms and complete a medical after Sunderland agreed a fee of ‘up to £2.5 million’ for the former Potters’ captain.

Jermaine Pennant is rumoured to be resisting a move to the Brit despite Stoke having matched Liverpool’s valuation of the winger of around £4m. He has also been linked with Blackburn Rovers and has been told in no uncertain terms by Rafa Benitez that he’ll have to move if he wants to play in the Premier League again.

There seems to be no confirmation of earlier rumours from Ipswich that Stoke have had a bid accepted for Jon Walters.
