Stoke City will play Darlington at the Britannia Stadium in the first round of the Carling Cup.
The date and time is yet to be confirmed, but it will be in the week commencing 21 August.
The Carling Cup has not been a good competition for the Potters in recent years, who seem to have made a habit of getting beaten by lower league opposition in the first round.
