Stoke boss Tony Pulis has made it clear that his decision regarding the new official club captain has not yet been made. The current skipper, Andy Griffin, took over the role this time last year from Dominic Matteo but with his exit looking imminent it is widely expected that Abdoulaye Faye, who was named captain during then latter half of the season, will inherit the armband.

After being questioned the experienced Pulis replied by saying ‘We’ll just have to see but I have to say Abby needs to prove nothing – as both a player and a captain’. The former Gillingham manager has also stated that he will make his decision once he knows who he has and hasn`t got in his squad.

Potters left-back Danny Higginbotham is the only real other contender for the armband as he looks to regain the position he occupied during his previous spell back in 2007 before he left for Sunderland.
