Stoke City welcomed in form Queens Park Rangers to the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday and both sides battled to a 2-2 draw on the day.

QPR’s form had certainly improved since their losing streak at the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign but (whisper it quietly) Stoke’s own form is slowly and steadily improving and whilst things are from rosy, unbeaten in five is no bad return, but we need to turn these draws into wins to close that gap quicker if promotion is to be a hope this year given the early expectations.

With goals on the day coming from Saido Berahino and Joe Allen, by rights it should’ve been more, but according to statistics website Whoscored our top five performers on the day performed very well indeed.

Allen took Man of the Match by a small margin, scoring 7.89, but then it was pretty tight with James McClean (7.30), Berahino (7.19), Bruno Martins Indi (7.10) and youngster Thomas Edwards (7.09).

At least we appear to be seeing some signs of momentum and consistency from players now, so if others can step up that touch more it should make all the difference.
