With Stoke City getting back to winning ways in midweek as we faced off against fellow relegated Premier League side Swansea City, we go into today’s Bet365 clash with Blackburn Rovers in better spirits.

Obviously, fans are hoping we can now make it back to back Championship wins later this afternoon but one Stoke player remains close to the thoughts of many fans given his omission by manager Gary Rowett in recent matches.

Moritz Bauer has quickly become a fan favourite and it’s not the first time I’ve covered the disappointment amongst the fan base at how he appears to have carried the can for overall poor performances in defence at the beginning of the season and despite Rowett talking him up a few weeks back, he remains sidelined.

With Cuco Martina coming in as his replacement, the clubs’ social media team Tweeted the following on Friday.

Rowett himself has also praised the 28-year-old Everton man saying he doesn’t get the credit he deserves, and whilst few fans had poor words for his efforts, Bauer remained in the forefront.
