It’s being reported that Stoke City have shortlisted former Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores as a potential replacement for Mark Hughes.

The BBC reported earlier today that Stoke were looking at the 52 year old but the Espanyol gaffer is only one of several candidates we are taking a look at.

His deal in Spain runs until 2019.

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill is expected to hold talks with the club and he’s yet to sign a new deal, but he could in theory combine both jobs if sufficient permissions were received.

The BBC state that Stoke haven’t yet contacted the FAI though.

The speculation is we are determined to have a new gaffer in place for the game against Manchester United on January 15, so it could be a busy five days.
