Ronaldinho & Stoke are two words you would not normally associate being in the same sentence, but today The Sentinel newspaper has reported the possibility of the former Ballon D`or winner plying his trade in the Potteries next season.

The Brazilian magician currently plays in his native Brazil with Athletico Mineiro, but has expressed his disappointment in never playing in the top flight of English football.

There are rumbles that Mark Hughes is trying to persuade the attacking midfielder to swap the golden sands of Brazil for the grey skies of Stoke-on-Trent for one final swansong in an illustrious career.

But with the former Barcelona man being 34-years-old, is it a good idea to pursue such an interest, especially after failing to see other former ‘greats` Eidur Gudjohnsen and Michael Owen recapture any past former glories whilst at the Britannia Stadium.

The Brazilian great did still manage to score 16 goals in 45 appearances last term and it would but phenomenal to see what would be such a marquee signing bringing some Samba skills to the Britannia Stadium.

Who would have thought that 6 years ago Stoke would have been linked with a former England such as Peter Crouch, never mind the former World Player of the Year!?

How times change, ey!
