Mark Hughes has revealed he’s planning on bringing younger players into the Stoke squad next season. It could well be one of these isn’t actually promoted from within as Coventry’s teenager defender Chris Camwell is being linked.

Camwell, out-of-contract at Coventry this summer, only made his debut last month against Scunthorpe but could leave the Sky Blues following relegation from League One.

Hughes has an interest in Camwell, 18, and will be looking to ‘snap him up on the cheap’ now that Coventry have dropped into the basement league of English Football, according to the Daily Mirror.

A £250,000 compensation deal has been reported. Coventry will be entitled to a fee for Camwell but could look for a tribunal to decide if Stoke’s so-called offer doesn’t match their valuation?

This same Mirror report also reminded us of Hughes’ recently reported interest in another young talent, Bertrand Traore.

Ajax’s on-loan Chelsea forward Traore, 21, isn’t in the future plans of Antonio Conte so could head to the Bet365 Stadium when his spell in Dutch football ends as one of Hughes’ close season signings.
