The Potters reenter the top flight of English football after an absence of 23 years amid scenes of real emotion at the Brit that also saw Leicester City relegated to League 1 for the first time in their history.

All Stoke needed was a point and that was that they got. Goalless it may have been, but the game was certainly not lacking drama as both sets of fans saw their emotions go from one extreme to another as the game went on.

A senseless last minute pitch invasion from Stoke fans nearly caused disaster had the referee taken the players off the pitch, but the game restarted after a couple of minutes and then finally ended seconds later to scenes of jubilation never seen before at the Britannia Stadium.

With the pitch taken over by fans, the players had to join in the celebrations from the front of the directors’ box.

The club have announced that there will be an open-top bus tour around the city, ending at the Brit on Tuesday evening.

It’s still not yet fully sunk in for some fans (this one included) that the likes of Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool will be playing at the Brit next season, but now we can really say ‘WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE’!
