Stoke City have confirmed that they are in talks with a Belgium club for the loan of one of their players.

That club is believed to be Royal Antwerp and the player, 18 year old defender, Richie de Laet. The Sentinel broke the news by claiming that the signing had already been made, but this has been robustly denied by Stoke, who have said that negotiations are at a ‘sensitive stage’ and will not comment further until a deal is either done or not.

De Laet seems to have come recommended by Ryan Shawcross, who also spent last season on loan at Royal Antwerp.

If the move does go through, it seems that Adam Rooney may be part of the deal and go to Antwerp, also on loan, for the season.

Championship newcomers, Blackpool are hoping to pick up Andy Wilkinson from us if the De Laet loan deal goes through. Wilko spent time last season on loan at the Seasiders and they seem keen to do a deal if Pulis feels that he now has enough in defence to let the Academy graduate go.
