A short time ago this afternoon, Stoke City confirmed that manager Paul Lambert had now left the club and his position as manager.
With Lambert failing to keep us up and with us now preparing for life in the Championship next season, it was known a meeting would be held today to discuss his future and although he wasn’t sacked, it was mutually agreed that he would depart.

A brief statement from the club thanked him for his efforts over the last four months as he came in as Mark Hughes replacement and stated relegation ‘…certainly wasn’t due to a lack of effort, professionalism and dedication’ on his part, but in thanking him we now go in a different direction as we look to bounce back at the first time of asking.
Fans will now eagerly await news of a potential replacement and there are certainly a number of names being bandied around.
My thoughts too.

Graham Potter, and give him a BIG transfer kitty, not part of the managerial merry go round, relatively unknown, therefore less predictable, he's Ambitious, and A real stokie……so he'll have passion, with us fans behind him why not?… ????Goarrrn you might Potters! @stokecity

Lee Johnson, for one. Claudio Ranieri will be available, as he is leaving Nantes soon. There are other Managers of better quality than Moyes or Allardyce.

There was also praise for the former gaffer and for the board for acting so swiftly to try and draw a total line under the last campaign.
Well Done @stokecity and well done Paul Lambert.
Cracking bloke but a bridge too far. All success for the future.
Oh….Up Yours Mark Hughes#comeonstoke

Good bloke and wish him the best but some strange subs and poor win return meant he had to go.

Thank you Paul. No manager in world football could have saved us with the state our club is currently in but you gave everything that you could and we appreciate it. It's going to be a big job for the next man but I think we're all up for it ????

All the best to you in the future, Paul
