The new manager has hardly had time to get his backside on the seat in the boss’ office and the reports of possible signings are already mounting up.

One of those names, according to the Daily Mirror, is Derby County defender Curtis Davies who is known to be a favourite of Gary Rowett from his time with the Rams.

Our sister site Vital Derby has Davies named a number of times last season as their Man Of The Match, not bad for a player who only cost them £500,000 from Hull City.

The 33-year-old has gone on to make 45 appearances for the Championship playoff contenders.

Stoke look set to lose defenders with Kurt Zouma returning to the Capital and Kevin Wimmer being helped out of the door, Rowett will be looking to get his new side built up as soon as possible.

Time will tell if Derby would be prepared to take another blow from the Potters, but Rowett is a big fan of the player who has the likes of Luton Town, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa, Leicester City and Birmingham City on his CV.

Certainly, any move would be opposed by Derby County fans who are somewhat upset on social media about Rowett moving to the bet365 Stadium, taking their better players as well could push a few over the edge.
