Stoke City have been charged following an incident during the match against QPR on 3 December 2005 in which two fans got onto the pitch, leading to a mass confrontation involving QPR players. One fan was subsequently jailed for attacking the QPR keeper.

The club were charged with a breach of FA Rule E20(a) for ‘failing to ensure that its spectators and all persons purporting to be its supporters or followers conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from violent and/or threatening and/or provocative behaviour or conduct’.

They have until 5 June to respond.

The behaviour of fans was subject to a police investigation and FA disciplinary action against the club was put on hold pending the outcome of this investigation.

In connection to the same game, QPR were charged with failing to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from threatening and/or provocative behaviour, and were fined £5000.
