Stoke and Plymouth fans must wait

Stoke City start June still Managerless and with no clear end in sight to the standoff between Paul Stapleton, chairman of Plymouth Argyle and Peter Coates. In the middle of this tug of war is the current Plymouth manager, Tony Pulis.

Fans of both clubs have a right to be upset as they see the vital pre-season transfer window slip by with no one apparently planning for next season`s campaigns and any potential new signings sitting on their contracts.

It now seems certain, due to the deafening silence from Stoke, Plymouth and most notably Tony Pulis himself, that he will be taking up the reins again at the Britannia Stadium in the not too distant future leaving the Green Army to find another manager.

This has brought together both sets of fans in demanding that this situation is resolved as soon as possible. Our colleagues on the Vital Plymouth website are just as fed up with the current impasse, stating passionately: ‘So where are we now, I hear you ask? Well we wait, once again, until both chairman and the in-demand manager all return from Portugal and then finally, hopefully, please dear God, we just may get an answer to the age old question: Is Tony Pulis moving to Stoke City?’

Here at Stoke, whether you want Pulis back or not, we also need this to be resolved with no further delay.

Peter Coates told the Sentinel today that whilst he could not comment on the situation he ‘can assure supporters that things are being dealt with as quickly as possible and are not being allowed to drift.’ Let`s hope he is right, otherwise Tony Pulis will find himself in the same situation as Johan Boskamp last July – no time to prepare and all the best out of contract players already snapped up.
