Still proud? but apparently not quite as loud!?

Liverpool have apparently over taken Stoke City as the Premier League`s nosiest supporters, according to unofficial research by website ‘Peter’s Fan Chants`.

We have been famously dubbed the Premier League`s and the country`s loudest fans ever since Sky Sports measured the noise levels in every ground in 2008.

Despite this ‘unofficial` research, it will be a guarantee that Stoke fans will be bellowing songs of support much louder than Cup rivals Manchester City.

Speaking of the research; managing director of Peter`s Fan Chants Michael Dennis said: ‘While this survey is not scientific, we have taken a series of measurements on the terraces of each club’s home ground and averaged this out across games and the season.”

He continued to comment of the level of noise the two City`s sets of fans will be making: ‘Contrary to what you might expect with its much larger ground, Manchester City fans are quieter at 71 decibels than Stoke City (83 decibels).

‘But Wembley Stadium, acoustically, doesn’t help the fans and they sound muted compared to their home ground terraces.

‘But because each club is allocated roughly the same number of tickets, both sets of supporters will have a level playing field and the opportunity to demonstrate that they are the loudest.’

Here is the full Noise League table of every Premier League club (according to Peter’s Fan Chants):

1. Liverpool (97 dB)
2. Man Utd (94 dB)
3. Aston Villa (89 dB)
4. Everton (86 dB)
5. Blackpool (85 dB)
6. Stoke (83 dB)
7. Newcastle (82 dB)
8. West Ham (81 dB)
9. Chelsea (80 dB)
10. Sunderland (80 dB)
11. Arsenal (77 dB)
12. Wigan (72 dB)
13. Man City (71 dB)
14. Tottenham (70 dB)
15. Blackburn (67 dB)
16. Birmingham (70 dB)
17. Bolton (69 dB)
18. Wolves (69 dB)
19. West Brom (67) dB
20. Fulham (65 dB)

Ok, so allow me to be sour grapes and bring up a couple of factors that may have ignored or not noticed; firstly, the microphones. Perhaps they were ill-placed? Maybe the strong winds howling from the open corners and distorting the quality of recordings? Or even they were knock-off Nigel`s?

And secondly, the size of the stadiums. Anfeild`s capacity is 45276, Old Trafford holds 76212, Goodison Park seats 40,157, and Villa Park has 40310. Compare this to the Britannia Stadium`s 27400. Therefore we should technically be in second place.

Having said that, if to say that it is the case that we`re not as loud anymore, then what is happening? We can`t lose any vocal support for the club! We relish the title of being the loudest supporters in the country and always will. It makes us even prouder of being a Potter and makes us more intimidating for the opposition.

Is it because we`ve ‘been there and done that` after being in the Premier League for three years now and heading for a forth? That seems the most likely reason.

So come on guys!! Get singing and shouting!! I don`t care if you`re from the prawn sandwich seats and you`d rather not; get supporting your team! Especially for the FA Cup Final this Saturday, and the Europa League next season!!!

Thankfully, Peter`s Fan Chants` research is UNOFFICIAL so we are still OFFICIALLY the loudest fans according to Sky Sports. Loud and proud as ever, just make sure you keep up the brilliant work fellow Potters!
