Mamady Sidibe has confirmed that he has signed a new contract with the club.

The 30 year-olds last deal was set to expire in the summer but he has now penned a new two and a half deal. The Mali international snubbed the chance to go and represent his country at this year`s African Cup of Nation so he could try and earn himself a new contract and that bold move has paid dividends.

Sidibe`s run of form which has seen him score against Fulham and play each of the last four games and earnt plenty of praise form both Tony Pulis and the fans. Sidibe said “I am very happy here and didn`t have to think about it when I was asked about a contract”.

If Big Mama plays against Blackburn at the weekend her will be making his 150th start for the club, only Steve Simonsen has made more. He said “I am very proud to have played so many times for Stoke”.

This news will delight fans who have come to idolise Sidibe since his arrival 5 years ago. He played a major part in both the promotion campaign and in Stoke`s successful bid top retain top flight status. He will be hoping to crown his new contract with a goal in the home match with Blackburn on Saturday. A match that the Potters will be expected to win.
