Skipper Ryan Shawcross has said Stoke City will show a response to our Leicester City defeat when we face Burnley in the midweek clash.

Heading to the King Power Stadium for the game against the resurgent reigning champions, Leicester hit us for a two nil victory and Shawcross told the Official Website in his own post game press conference that simply put we weren’t good enough on the day and we have to put that right at the next time of asking.

‘We`re disappointed, it`s a game we were looking to win and we didn`t perform. We didn`t have the work ethic or effort we needed to win at what is a difficult place. They were the better team overall and deserved the points. Their first goal was a good one, the second we should have stopped the cross. They had a number of chances and although we defended pretty well they deserved the win. We`re desperate to put today right and I`m 100% certain there will be a massive reaction when we face Burnley and hopefully we can get the three points.’

With Stoke finding the net through Marko Arnautovic but seeing it ruled out wrongly for offside, the best other chance fell to Saido Berahino but it wasn’t that difficult a save for their goalkeeper, and Shawcross focused on the positives of growing sharpness for our new striker, whilst also having praise for the performance of young Egyptian winger Ramadan Sobhi.

‘Saido`s come in and is getting better with every game; it`s difficult for him after having such a long period out. As for Ramadan, he has come into the team he has played really well, kept the jersey and rightly so. He`s an Egyptian international, there`s a lot of talent within him and it`s up to us to give him the platform to perform.’

On to Burnley now then and hopefully a return to winning ways once again after two straight defeats.
