Ryan Shawcross has dismissed rumours he is about to represent Wales via Twitter.

Reports suggest that Wales manager Chris Coleman is ready to offer Stoke captain Shawcross a chance to represent Wales, but the central defender has quashed the rumours through social media site, Twitter.

The 24-year-old tweeted: “Still focused on getting in England squad, despite what’s in the media”

The former Manchester United defender qualifies to play for Wales under new FIFA regulations as he was schooled in Wales for 5 years.

He has previously been capped by England at under-21 level and has also been involved in an England senior squad, but didn`t take part in the fixture against Egypt in 2010.

His latest statement reaffirms his desire to break into the England fold.
