Saturday’s final home game of the season against Crystal Palace will see Martin Atkinson take charge of proceedings.

Atkinson returns to the Potteries for the first time since sending off Charlie Adam in the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Everton. That red card for Adam could well have been the reason for the defeat being that it was shown in the 30th minute with the sides locked in a 0-0 stalemate.

Atkinson has taken charge of 31 games in all competitions so far this season and he has shown the yellow card 110 times and the red has been shown five times. the last one being Adam.

The last time Atkinson took charge of a Crystal Palace game, he sent off Onyinye Ndidi of Leicester City when Palace beat the Foxes at the King Power Stadium 3-0.

Running the lines on Saturday will be Lee Betts and Peter Kirkup. the fourth official will be another firm favourite, Neil Swarbrick.
