Just when we thought we were rid of him forever Salif Diao is back. The Senegalese world cup player arrived at the Britannia this morning to discuss terms over a new contract and subsequently signed a 2-year deal.

Diao was out of contract at the Brit this summer and rejected an offer to become a scout and coach as well as a player. He looked destined to be heading to mainland Europe but this morning turned up at the stadium to meet with Tony Scholes.

A deal was struck in no time and Diao will probably be an automatic pick for Pulis`s 25 man squad tomorrow.

Marc Wilson is still in talks with the club and a deal is still expected to go through so long as Stoke can negotiate the release of Dave Kitson from his contract.

And Eidur Gudjohnsen is expected at Stoke to make up his mind over a loan deal after the Potters and Monaco agreed on paying 50% of his wages each.

More to come throughout the day on Vital Stoke.
