The 27-year-old heads into the Bet365 Stadium on a four-year deal and he becomes our seventh signing of the summer so far.
The fee is officially undisclosed.
Speaking shortly after his arrival was confirmed to the Official Website Rowett explained that he had always been a long-term target for him since he arrived at the club back in May so he was delighted to see the deal get over the line.
“There has been interest in Sam all summer from our point of view, and we have had a lot of discussions internally about him. We have always been aware of his potential availability and I know there were rumours of him possibly moving to the Premier League a few days ago, so we have had to move quickly. To get a player through the doors who has shown that he can comfortably play at Premier League level is another coup for us – we are absolutely delighted to have got the deal done.”
Somebody has a message for you, Potters!

The player does come in carrying an injury though, he’s recovering from knee surgery so he’s not expected to make his Stoke debut until the end of August at least as he continues to undergo rehabilitation work and build his fitness. But we should see him soon enough as Rowett believes he’s only about a week away from being able to step up properly to first-team training and then he’ll get the inevitable couple of run outs at Under 23 level to bring him and his confidence on further.
Welcome to stoke. Could be a great signing.

We’ll certainly be hoping he finds his Hull City form more than his Swansea form as a number of their fans aren’t sad to see him leave, but one man doesn’t cause a relegation – especially when they are settling into a new club to begin with.
Fresh start could do him the world of good.
