Lee Mason will be the man in the middle when Stoke welcome Manuel Pellegrini`s Premier League Champions Manchester City to the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday.

Mason has refereed 14 times this season handing out 40 yellow cards and four red cards, at an average of 3.1 cards per game.

The Lancashire County F.A. referee was promoted to the Premier League select group of referee`s in 2006.

Mason`s biggest fixture to date was the 2006 League One play-off final between Swansea and Barnsley at the Millenium Stadium.

The Bolton has officiated Stoke twice so far this season. He was in charge of Stoke`s away victories at Everton and Wednesday`s opponents Man City, where both games finished 1-0 He handed out eight yellow cards during the fixtures; four cards being handed out to Potters players.

The 43-year-old has only refereed Man City once this season; the Citizen`s 1-0 home defeat against Stoke. He handed out three yellow cards during the fixture; two four cards being handed out to United players.

L Betts and A Halliday are the Assistant referees for the encounter.
