Lee Mason has been named as the man in the middle when Stoke visit Ronald Koeman`s Southampton at St. Mary`s on Saturday.

The Lancashire County F.A. referee was promoted to the Premier League select group of referee`s in 2006.

Mason`s biggest fixture to date was the 2006 League One play-off final between Swansea and Barnsley at the Millennium Stadium.

He has been in charge of five fixtures so far this season, handing out 15 yellow cards and one red card at an average of 3.2 cards per game.

The Greater Manchester referee has been in charge of Stoke once this season, their 2-1 home victory against Bournemouth. He handed out one yellow card to Glenn Whelan in the match.

Mason has yet to officiate Southampton this season. He was last in charge of the Saints in their 1-0 away defeat against Everton back in April. He handed out one yellow card to Ryan Bertrand in the match.

S Ledger and A Halliday are Mason`s assistant referees.
