Kevin Friend will be the man in the charge when Stoke visit White Hart Lane to face Tottenham tomorrow.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes will surely be hoping for a better performance from the man in charge, after being bitterly disappointed with referee Martin Atkinson in Stoke`s last fixture at Newcastle United.

Friend has refereed eight times this season handing out 27 yellow cards and one red card, at an average of 3.5 cards per game.

The Leicester born referee was promoted to the Premier League select group of referee`s in 2009 and refereed the Capital One Cup final last season.

The official refereed Stoke three times last season. He was the man in the middle of Stoke`s 1-1 draw at Reading, where he sent off Dean Whitehead and gave Reading a last minute penalty, he was also in charge of the Potters annual victory at West Brom, and was also in charge of Stoke`s final day defeat to tomorrow`s opponents Tottenham, where he sent off Charlie Adam. Over the three fixtures Friend gave out 15 yellow cards and two red cards.

He has been in charge of one Stoke fixture this season, the Potters 2-0 victory against Sunderland. Friend handed out 3 yellow cards, 2 to Stoke players and also sent off Wes Brown, although later the card was rescinded.

The 42-year-old officiated Tottenham twice last season. Other than the Stoke fixture he also officiated Spurs trip to Goodison Park where Tottenham lost 2-1. Friend handed out 10 yellow cards and one red card over the two fixtures.

He has refereed Tottenham once this season, Spurs` 0-0 draw at Goodison Park. The official handed out 5 yellow cards during the game, one to a Spurs player.

S Burt and S Long are the assistant referees.
