Chris Foy will be the man in the middle when Stoke visit John Carver`s Newcastle United at St. James` Park this weekend.

Foy has refereed 12 times this season handing out 37 yellow cards and five red cards, at an average of 3.5 cards per game.

The Liverpool County F.A. referee was promoted to the Premier League select group of referee`s in 2001 and was then promoted to the FIFA list in 2002 until standing down in 2007.

Foy`s biggest fixture to date as the 2010 F.A. cup final between Chelsea and Portsmouth.

The St. Helens` has officiated Stoke once so far this season. He was in charge of Stoke`s 2-2 draw at home against West Ham. He handed out two yellow cards during the game, one to a Stoke player.

The 53-year-old has refereed Newcastle twice this season; the Magpies 4-0 defeat at Southampton and their 1-0 home victory against QPR. He handed out seven yellow cards during the fixture; four cards being handed out to United players.
